C2C® office buildings in Berlin and Dortmund receive DNGB Gold pre-certification

  4. Cradle to Cradle®

On 6 October 2017, at the EXPO REAL 2017 in Munich, two designs from IAA Architecten were awarded a Vorzertifikat (= pre-certificate) from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB). Both designs for office buildings of both PULSE BERLIN and ICON DORTMUND received the predicate GOLD. What is special is that it concerns the first two Vorzertifikaten in Germany that have been tested on the basis of the new DGNB 2017, which includes, amongst others, a new test criterion for circular construction. The DGNB is the German organisation for sustainable construction, similar to BREAAM and LEED. The pre-certification is part of DGNB 2017 and can be converted into an official certification once the two buildings have been inspected after completion.

DGNB LABEL GOLD

In collaboration with the client, Con-Tura and Arcadis, IAA Architecten has gone through all the certification themes to obtain the GOLD certificate for office and administrative buildings. This includes the theme Circular Economy, which from 2017 is part of the DGNB certification system and comes from the Cradle to Cradle® philosophy. A special feature is that the office buildings PULSE BERLIN and ICON DORTMUND are pilots for the DGNB 2017.
