A big lack of affordable housing for the students at Campus Golm of the University of Potsdam, has led to new construction to the northwest of the residential area Am Herzberg. The first constructions in a 10-hectare urban expansion near Wissenschaftspark Potsdam-Golm will consist of four residential buildings for students.

COMFORTABLE LIVING CLOSE TO THE UNIVERSITY

The new complex consists of four three level L-shaped residential buildings with a total of 423 independent living units, all with their own shower, toilet and pantry. The buildings are situated on a slightly curved strip perpendicular to the residential street In der Feldmark. The majority of the apartments consist of 21 m² studios which can be connected in pairs to form a larger apartment by removing the partition and turning one sanitary block + pantry into a storage room. Furthermore, there are four studios and eight two-room apartments which are 42 m² and also have their own bathroom and pantry. The apartments on the ground floor are suitable for disabled people.

Each building has a staircase and lift, as well as communal areas such as laundries, toilets, storage rooms and study rooms in the cellars. There are 32 parking spaces for every two blocks, 12 of which are for disabled people, as well as 2 bicycle storage spaces that are integrated with designated spaces for waste containers. On the west side of the buildings there are two children's playgrounds in a communal green zone.
