Transformation Enschedese Ambachtsschool: almost finished
The transformation of De Ambachtsschool in Enschede is nearing completion. Commissioned by Renpart Vastgoed and in collaboration with Studio DAD, IAA Architecten delivered the design for the transformation of this monumental school on the Lasondersingel into 70 loft apartments. The Ambachtsschool was built in 1922 by architect A. Beltman and has played an important role in the genesis of Enschede as a modern city. The building contains many authentic and unique details that have led to the careful transformation, in close consultation with the monument committee and the city architect. Besides respect for the existing building, however, space has also been created for additions that the new use of the building demands and this new use is also conveyed in an appropriate manner. Completion is planned for the end of 2019.
