IAA Engineering: crucial link in new Heutink construction

  1. BIM
  2. meticulous and reliable
  3. engineering

The June 2021 edition of the Bouwen in het Oosten magazine features an interview with Jeroen Nijmeijer of IAA Engineering about the cooperation with Aannemingsmaatschappij Hegeman in the realisation of Heutink's new business premises (28,500m²) in Nijverdal. During the tender phase, Hegeman asked IAA Engineering for advice on engineering the execution-ready design based on the technical design by Reitsema & Partners. No strange request, as Hegeman and IAA Engineering have already worked together successfully in the past such as, for example, in housing projects in Hilversum. IAA Engineering is a division of IAA Architecten and has been engineering (design) projects of others for quite some time, something that goes a lot further than modelling and process supervision.

THE HEUTINK PROJECT

Beforehand, IAA Engineering sat down with Hegeman to agree on the approach to certain components and to determine what the end result needed to be. The ultimate goal was to unburden Hegeman, with mutual trust being the key word. Because in the current construction hectic, and with a view to the tight delivery deadline, it's a nice thought that Hegeman and IAA Engineering keep a grip on everything together.

Tight project monitoring

The division of tasks is as follows: Hegeman keeps its finger on the pulse in each construction phase to control costs and ensure the feasibility of the whole. IAA Engineering manages the project on the basis of the project content, but also acts in case of possible execution changes and problems, always in consultation with Hegeman's work preparation and project leader.
